Ara : Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar on August 11, 2017, suspended the SHO, Sikarhatta police station, Kundan Kumar, with immediate effect for allegedly thrashing a father – son duo in police custody.
SPO Vijay Rai of Nonadih under Sikarhatta police station had given Rs 72,000 to Suresh Kesari of Sikarhatta village under the same police station about one and half a year ago. He complained to the police that Suresh Kesari and his family members abused and threatened him whenever he demanded his money back. SHO, Sikarhatta police station, Kundan Kumar arrested Suresh Kesari’s father Yugal Prasad Kesari and his brother Suraj Kesari on August 8, 2017. Later, he thrashed the father- son duo in the police custody.
Suresh Kesari complained to the SP that the SHO was torturing and thrashing his father and brother in police custody. After inquiry, the SP found the complaint correct and suspended the SHO. The SP said that the torture of any person in police custody is just misuse of power hence the SHO was suspended. A complained case against the SHO has also been filed in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Ara, in this connection.
