Ara : Women’s Police Station, Ara, in Bhojpur district, on the direction of an Ara  Court, on July 23, 2019, lodged an FIR against five persons including a woman  in connection with gang rape of a woman from Balia, Uttar Pradesh, at Ara and Bihta in Patna district.

The FIR was lodged against three persons for outraging the modesty of the woman and  two persons including a woman for  helping them. The three rape accused are said to be residents of a village under Barhara police station in Bhojpur while the woman is from Bihta and a man from Sritola, Ara. The survivor is a resident of Balia in Uttar Pradesh.

SHO, Women’s Police Station, quoting the FIR, said that the survivor was at  her in-laws house on March 15, 2019, at Balia when Sunny Paswan belonging to her parents’ village under Barhara police station in Bhojpur district came and took her to Barahra on his motorcycle on pretext of illness of her mother. At Babura bus stand, Govind and Surya Paswan accompanied them and informed that her mother is at Bihta in Patna district. After that all of them proceeded towards Bihta and it was dark when they reached there. At Bihta, all the three forcibly took her to the house of one Anita at village Sikaria where they gangraped her for three days and when she protested, they threatened her with dire consequences. After spending three days there, they brought her to a house at Sri Tola, Ara, where they raped her two more days.

The SHO said that the police brought the woman to Ara Sadar Hospital for medical examination. The woman said that she had approached the police but no FIR was lodged and no one heard her problems and so she moved the court and on the direction of the court, a named FIR was lodged with Women’s Police Station.
