Bhojpur police bust gang of vehicle lifters, six arrested

Ara: Bhojpur police busted a gang of inter- district vehicle lifters late Friday night and arrested all the six members of the gang. The police also seized a countrymade pistol, two live cartridges, seven mobiles, six SIMs, a Scorpio from their possession.

The arrested criminals were identified as Nityanand Singh, son of Banshropan Singh of Nathamalpur village under Barahara police station, Markandey Singh, son of Jagat Narain Singh of Jokhari village under Krishnagarha police station, Shamsher Alam, son of Md Nurul Hoda of Ara under Nawada police station, Prem Singh, son of Brahm Shankar Singh of Sarana under Shahpur police station, Arjun Singh, son of Birbal Singh of Dhanupura under Town police station and Raju Ali, son of Asgar Ali of Ekauna village under Barahara police station. Nityanand is said to be the mastermind of the gang. All the members of the gang have criminal background. The seized vehicle belongs to Praveen Kumar of Sahar in Bhojpur district and the name of the driver is Vijay Yadav of Dighbara in Saran district.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that he was tipped off that a gang of vehicle lifters hired a Scorpio at  Patna and it was to pass through Ara. He immediately formed a police team under ASP (probation) Daya Shankar that started checking vehicles near Dharahara locality under Town police station. Seeing the police, the miscreants tried to escape but the police chased them and arrested all the six members of the gang near Badkagoan bridge under Gajrajganj police outpost area and also recovered arms, ammunitions and mobiles from their possession.

The SP said the gang members used to hire four wheelers from different areas of different districts and after dumping  the drivers somewhere sold the looted vehicles to their fixed buyers. The gang had looted a Scorpio from Gajrajganj area in Bhojpur district on May 9, 2016, after hiring it.
