Bhojpur police arrest two notorious criminal in murder case

Ara : Police, on a tip off, arrested notorious criminals Dipu Chaudhary and Sonu Chaudhary near village Khopira  under Sahar police station in Bhojpur district on Friday in connection with murder of Hemant Chaudhary of village Belaur under Udwantnagar police station during the panchayat elections.

Police also seized a 7.65 mm pistol, a single barrel gun, one countrymade pistol, four 7.65mm bore cartridges, two 12 bore live cartridges, one .315 bore live cartridge and a Pulsar motorcycle from their possession. Several cases are pending against the two criminals with Udwantnagar and Shahpur police stations in Bhojpur district.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh on Saturday said that he got information that two criminals Dipu Chaudhary, son of Upendra Chaudhary and nephew of a notorious criminal Butan Chaudhary, along with Sonu Chaudhary, son of Ram Tapashya Chaudhary, were going to Khopira  to commit some crime there. The SP said he immediately formed a police team under ASP (operations) Md Sajid and directed him to conduct raid between Belaur and Khopira in civil uniform. The police team intercepted both the miscreants when they were on way to Khopira village on their red coloured motorcycle on Friday evening and arrested them.

The SP said that a battle for supremacy was going on at Belaur village between the gangs of Butan Chaudhary and Ranjit Chaudhary in which a number of persons had been killed in last several years. After Butan Chaudhary was arrested and sent to jail, his nephew Dipu Chaudhary took charge of the gang and committed several crimes in the area. The SP stated that during panchayat election, Hemant Chaudhary, elder brother-in-law (bhasur) of the mukhia aspirant, was killed. An FIR was lodged and police had arrested some persons but Dipu Chaudhary and Sonu Chaudhary remained at large. During interrogation, both the arrested persons confessed that they were looking for Ranjit Chaudhary to kill him.
