Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, conducted raids in different areas of Patna district and arrested three criminals on April 10, 2017, in connection with murder of a driver. Police also seized five mobiles including that of the deceased and Rs 3,800 from their possession.

The arrested criminals were identified as Kanhai Kumar alias Ranjan Kumar alias Nirala, son of Ran Vijay Singh of village Chechaur under Naubatpur police station in Patna district, Neeraj Kumar, son of Jitendra Kumar of village Fulari under Sandesh police station in Bhojpur district, and Niranjan Kumar alias Guru Ji, son of Dayal Singh of village Baghakola under Bikram police station in Patna district.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that some criminals had stabbed to death a Xylo driver at midnight on March 24, 2017. Police recovered the body from a garden near village Nurpur under Azimabad police station in Bhojpur district in the morning on March 25, 2017.  The deceased was later identified as Upendra Kumar Yadav, son of Harendra Kumar Yadav of Heeramanpur Pakadi village under Bihta police station in Patna district.

After the incident, the SP formed a team under SDPO, Ara, J P Rai. On the basis of mobile surveillance, police conducted raid at village Chechaur in Patna district and arrested Kanhai Kumar and on his revelation, arrested Neeraj Kumar and Niranjan Kuamr alias Guru Ji from different areas in Patna district.

Kanhai Kumar confessed before the police that he and Niraj Kumar worked as securityguards different private clinics at Patna and were interested in girls. Neeraj Kumar was his friend as his maternal uncle’s house is at Fulari and he frequently visited the village. They always hired vehicles for merry making with the girls. Kanhai said he needed money to fulfil demands of these girls hence hatched a plan to earn money by looting and selling vehicles. He contacted Niranjan Kumar of Baghakola village who arranged customer for them.

Kanhai  said that to execute his plan, he hired the Xylo of Upendra Kumar Yadav who was acquainted with him as he had hired his vehicle twice earlier and called him to Bihta saying that they had to attend a birthday party at Ara. Kanhai and Neeraj came to Nurpur village under Azimabad police station around midnight on March 24, 2017, and said that it was too late and the birthday party would have ended and so they should take rest in the garden. Upendra Kumar Yadav relied on them and all the three stayed at the garden. In the meantime, Kanhai stabbed Upendra Kumar Yadav several times in the back and killed him.

Later, Kanhai and Neeraj Kumar took the vehicle to Balia in Utter Pradesh where Niranjan Kumar was waiting for them but the deal did not be materialise there. Then they went to Chhapra and sold the vehicle at Rs 70,000 but only Rs 20,000 was paid so far to Kanhai Kumar. The SP said that Kanhai Kumar and Neeraj Kumar had gone to jail twice on the charge of theft earlier.
