Ara : Police on February 9, 2020, arrested four of the five suspects in connection with murder of a shop-keeper Badri Bhagat of Bampali village under Gajrajganj police outpost in Bhojpur District. Police are conducting raids to arrest the fifth miscreant in connection with this murder case.
The arrested miscreants were identified as Lalbanshi Musahar, Dasai Musahar, Chhatun Musahar, and Munna Musahar of Bampali village under Gajrajganj police outpost. But, the fifth miscreant Ghummu Musahar is still absconding.
Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar said on February 10, 2020, that Badri Bhagat ran a tea-stall near Shaheed Bhawan at Ara under Ara Town police station and was a drug addict who always visited the village for drugs. On February 6, 2020, he had gone to the Mahadalit Basti of the village with Rs 2,000 in his pocket. Seeing cash, five persons tried to snatch it and in the process, they strangulated Badri Bhagat to death. Later, they burnt the body and hid it under the husk near a temple at Mahadalit Tola with a view to erasing evidence.
Later, police recovered the half burnt body and brought it to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. One of the miscreants, Lalbanshi Musahar informed the family members of the deceased about his murder that turned needle of suspicion towards him. When police interrogated him, he confessed his involvement in the murder of Badri Bhagat and also revealed the names of his aides. On his revelation, police arrested three of his associates.
