Ara : Bhojpur police on April 3, 2018, arrested six persons including a mahadalit leader Shailendra Paswan in connection with vandalism at the Government Record Room near collectorate and assault of advocates at Vakalatkhana near Ara Civil Court besides thrashing of priest of a temple during Bharat Bandh on April 2, 2018.

The call for Bharat Bandh was given by Bhim Sena to protest dilution of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The bandh, which was supported by the CPI(ML), RJD and other political parties, turned violent on April 2. The protesters blocked trains and roads besides clashing with police. Even matriculation examinees were not spared and many of them were not allowed to reach to their respective examination centres.
