Ara : Police arrested four criminals near village Behara Brahmsthan under Jagdishpur police station on July 10, 2018, evening. Police also seized two countrymade pistols, two live rounds of .315 caliber, one live round of OK177Z caliber, one Wagon R, Rs 30,000 cash and a bundle of fake notes.
The arrested criminals were identified as Ram Babu Sahni, son of Harendra Sahni of Jogiya under Harsiddhi police station, Pappu Kumar, son of Nagendra Rai of Jogiraha under Turkaulia police station, Anil Yadav, son of Sona Lal Yadav of Dhekaha Chakardah under Pipara police station and Ravi Ranjan Yadav, son of Harihar Prasad Yadav of Mathia Bariyarpur under Pipara Kothi police station in East Champaran district. Ram Babu Sahani is said to be mastermind of the gang.
Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar on July 11 said that Putu Kumar of Koelwar under the same police station was going home on foot after drawing Rs 30,000 from the Punjab National Bank, Koelwar branch, on July 10 evening when four armed criminals on Wagon R forcibly lifted him at pistol point and kidnapped him after tying his mouth with cloths. On way, the miscreants snatched Rs 30,000 from him and threw him from the running vehicle near overbridge on Ara-Jagdishpur main road and escaped.
Puttu Kumar started crying. Hearing his cry, two youth who were coming on their motorcycles informed the SP and chased the criminals. Meanwhile, the SP swung into action and issued necessary directions to Udwantnagar police station. Police chased and the miscreants. Seeing the police, the miscreants left their vehicle near Behara Brahmsthan and tried to escape but police caught them.
Bhojpur SP said that it was a good example of public-police cooperation and he would write to the police headquarters about the civilian who helped police arrest the criminals.
