Bhojpur first dist in country to introduce cashless paddy procurement

Ara : Paddy procurement in Bhojpur district will be cashless this year. Bhojpur DM Birendra Prasad Yadav while addressing a seminar on ‘Digital Literacy Programme cum Paddy Procurement’ at Central Cooperative Bank, Ara, on December 24effect said that Bhojpur  will be the first district in the country effecting cashless paddy procurement.

Commenting on confusion over cashless transaction, the DM said that as the  people are adept in the use of mobile, they will be equally in cashless transaction. He said that payment for paddy will be made through RTGS and NEFT into the bank accounts of all the farmers whether they are land owners or ‘bataidars’. The payment will be made to the farmers within a fortnight. The DM said  that the farmers will benefit from this cashless system as it will rid them of middlemen.

Krishna Kumar Singh, Vice-President, NABARD, said that computers will be installed at all the primary agriculture credit society (PACS) and NABARD will install ATMs too at every cooperative society.
