Ara : All arrangements have been made to maintain law and order during Durga Puj and Muharram in Bhojpur district. Leaves of all the district and police officials including the DM and the SP have been cancelled in view of the Durga Puja and Muharram. DM Sanjeev Kumar and SP Awakash Kumar said legal action would be taken against mischief mongers. Even the magistrates and police personnel would have to face the music if found lax in duty.
Reviewing preparations with their officials on September 26, 2017, the DM and SP said the magistrates and police personnel had been deployed to different places with an instruction to remain present on the place of duty. They said police officers should be aware of the routes of the processions, escort them to the last points to maintain peace, law and order and ensure fearless movement of people.
They said the puja samitis had been issued license after taking an undertaking from them that they would ensure peace and prevent power theft. No procession would be allowed without obtaining license from the local police station. They said that installation of CCTV cameras and fire combating system has been made mandatory. All organizers have been asked to procure certificates from South Bihar State Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) to prove that they are using electricity in a genuine way. But not a single puja organizer has taken power connection so far, said the Executive Engineer, SBPDCL, Sanjay Kumar Borio.
