Ara: The Bhojpur district administration has strengthened security to maintain law and order during Durga Puj and Muharram. Leaves of all the district and police officials including the DM and the SP have been cancelled in view of the Durga Puja and Muharram.

Bhojpur DM Birendra Prasad Yadav and SP Kshatranil Singh said legal action would be taken against mischief mongers. Even the magistrates and police personnel would have to face  music if found lax in duty. They said the magistrates and police personnel had been deputed with an instruction to remain present on their places of duty.

The DM and SP said police officers should be aware of the routes of the processions and  escort them to the last points to maintain peace, law and order and ensure fearless movement of people. They said all puja samitis had been issued licenses by putting 10 conditions before the organizers including ensure peace and preventing power theft. No procession would be allowed without obtaining licenses from the local police station. A control room has been set up and a team of doctors has also been deputed there.

They said that installation of CCTV cameras and fire fighting system has been made mandatory. All organizers have been asked to procure certificates from South Bihar State Power (Holding) Company to prove that they are using electricity in a genuine way. This has to be done before electrification and illumination of the puja pandals otherwise they would be hauled up. But not a single puja organizer has taken power connection so far, said the Executive Engineer, SBPHC, Raj Kumar. Lady constables and policemen in plainclothes would be posted at every important pandals for four day. Idol immersion routes have been physically verified to prevent any untoward incident.
