Patna: The oganisations opposed to change in SC/ST Act provisions paralysed road traffic road and movement of trains in different parts of Bihar on September 6, 2018, during the Bharat Bandh call given by them. The bandh supporters attacked Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) and MP from Madhepura in North Bihar Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav near Khabra in Muzaffarpur district when he was on way to Madhubani. Yadav alleged that some people carrying sticks, spears and guns made murderous attack on him.
At Patna, bandh supporters staged demonstrations before the office of almost every political party to protest change in the SC/ST Act. Some bandh supporters also made attempts to paralyse train movements there. They also staged demonstration at several other places and were later arrested. A large number of policemen were deputed at strategic places to prevent any untoward incident.
At Muzaffarpur, the bandh supporters blocked NH-28 at Khabra, Ramdayalunagar, Bhikhanpura, and Madhaul. Several long distance vehicles remained stranded at different points.
In Araria, members of Sawarna Sena blocked Purnia-Raniganj state highway at Raniganj. At Kali Mandir Chowk at
Raniganj, the bandh supporters burnt tyre on the road to protest changes in the SC/ST Act. In Saamastipur, bandh supporters blocked Samastipur -Darbhanga main road.
At Chhapra, the supporters blocked several roads paralysing the movement of traffic. At Bhikhari Thakur Chowk, the bandh supporters had blocked the road since morning. At Nayagaon also, the road was blocked.
In Gopalganj, the supporters blocked Sipaya Dhala and burnt tyres on the road to pretest changes in SC/ST Act.
In Khagaria, the protestors blocked NH-31 while in Lakhisarai, they placed burning tyres at Vidyapith Chowk and blocked movement of the vehicles.
In Darbhanga, the protestors adopted offered `Dand Pranam’ on the road at Singhwara and reached Laheriasarai doing that.
