Patna : The Bharat Bandh call over SC/ST Act issue evoked mixed response in Bihar on April 2, 2018. It affected the normal life due to disruptions in railway and road traffic. The bandh supporters also forced closure of business establishments, different offices and teaching institutions across the state. They also squatted on railway tracks at various places.

The SC/ST Act issue also rocked the Bihar Assembly, which was adjourned till lunch break soon after it commenced its proceedings. The legislators from the opposition parties as well as some from the NDA, demanded that a resolution be passed by the House urging the Centre to take adequate measures to undo the recent Supreme Court order on arrests under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The Deputy Leader of JD(U) and former minister Shyam Rajak said the SC/ST Act was aimed at preventing atrocities against the vulnerable sections of the society.

An All Party delegation of SC/ST legislators also called on Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan on April 2 and apprised him of their feeling on a recent Apex Court order relating to SC/ST Act.
