Patna : World No 7 Kiki Bertens, 27, Netherlands, won the Madrid Open, Madrid, Spain, women’s singles title defeating Wrld No 3 and two-time former champion Simona Halep, 27, in the final. Bertens beat Halep in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in the final in 1hr 27 minutes on May 11,2019, late night. Bertens had beaten World No 2 Petra Kvitová, 29, Czech Republic, in the quarter-finals.

Berten fired 4 Aces in the match to none by Halep. Bertens broke Halep’s service 5 times in the match while the latter broke his service 3 times in the match. Bertens won 6 games in a row during the match to 2 by Halep. She won 41 service points to 28 by Halep.
