Bermo coal factory sealed on coal smuggling charge

Bokaro ( Jharkhand): Police led by Bermo DSP Raj Kumar Mehta on Thursday sealed  Ma Tara coal factory located under naxal infested Penk police station under Bermo sub-division, about 72 km away from Bokaro steel city in Jharkhand on the charge of coal smuggling. The factory had allegedly managed some local officials for the last two months.

More than 30 metric tons of illegal coal was  found kept in the factory whose documents could not be produced by coal  factory employees. An FIR has been lodged against 15 persons in this connection. The  scam was exposed on September 21 night when dozens of villagers  forcibly stopped five coal dumpers loaded with smuggled coal when they were moving towards the coal factory. The villagers even attacked the dumpers at Penk—Nawadih.

Later cops of Bokaro thermal, Penk and  Bermo police stations rushed to the spot to settle the matter but as the  villagers remained firm on their stand that the factory was involved in coal smuggling, the DSP on Thursday rushed to the spot  and later conducted raid at the factory.
