Patna : World No 144 Sumit Nagal, 23, India, crashed out of the Australian Open (AO) losing his first round match to World No 73 Ricardas Berankis, 30, Lithuania, in straight sets at Melbourne Park, Australia, on February 9, 2021. Berankis beat Nagal, who had receied a wildcard entry into the tournament, 6-2,7-5, 6-3 to reach the 2nd round.

World 141 Carlos Alcaraz Garfia, 17, Spain, beat World No 151 Botic van de Zandschulp, 25, Netherlands,  6-1, 6-4, 6-4 to enter the 2nd round. Garfia won 5 break points during the match to 1 by Botic. The Spainiard also won 5 games in a row in the match to 2 by Botic.
