Bencic & Pavlyuchenkova enter women’s singles final of Kremlin Cup

Patna : World No 40 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 28, Russia, and World No 10 Belinda Bencic, 22, Switzerland, will clash in the women’s singles final of Kremlin Cup at Moscow, Russia, on October 20, 2019.

Pavlyuchenkova beat World No 35 Karolina Muchova, 23, Czech Republic, in a tough three-set contest 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 in the semi-finals on October 19, 2019. She won 6 break points in the match to 3 by Muchova. The Czech won 4 games in a row to 3 by the Russian. Both the players fired 5 Aces each in the match. The Russian, however, committed 7 double faults to just 1 by Muchova. The Russian won 67 service points to 57 by Muchova.

Third seed Bencic beat World No 45 Kristina Mladenovic, 26, France, in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in 1hr 35 minutes in the semi-finals on October 19. Bencic won 4 break points in the match to 2 by Kristina. Both the players won 3 games each in a row in the match. The Swiss won 39 service points to 36 by the French. Kristina, however, fired 6 Aces in the match to 3 by Bencic.

Top seed and World No 4 Elina Svitolina, 24, Ukraine, had lost in the Round of 16 while 2nd seed and World No Kiki Bertens, 27, Netherlands, had lost in the QFs.
