Dhanbad ( Jharkhand) : Union Coal Secretary Sushil Kumar also feels that in the absence of a fulltime Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD), Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), Dhanbad, must be feeling the pinch and has promised early posting of its CMD. The BCCL is without even acting CMD for the last three weeks while it is going without a regular CMD since August 2015.
“Yes, absence of a fulltime CMD definitely hampers several important works but the post will be filled up very soon by Coal India Limited, ” stated Sushil Kumar while talking to TOI on phone on this issue.
Despite earning a profit of hundreds of crores every year, the ‘Maharatna mini company Bharat Coking Coal Limited ‘(BCCL) is without a CMD for last several weeks as the additional charge given to Central Coalfield Limited CMD Gopal Singh also expired on April 27, 2017.
The BCCL does not have a regular CMD for the last 19 months after the retirement of the then CMD T K Lahiri who retired on August 7, 2015. After the retirement of Lahiri, Coal India Limited gave additional charge of this post to director technical of CIL N Kumar. But after one year, N Kumar died on August 7, 2016, and later after two months Gopal Singh was given the additional charge of CMD BCCL on October 27, 2016.
Its may be mentioned here that not only the post of CMD but even the post of director technical operation of BCCL has been lying vacant for the last two years and BCCL is having only one director (project) Vinay Kumar Panda who will also retire next month. CCL CMD Gopal Singh said that he was given the additional charge for six months which ended on April 27.
