Barty remains World No 1 in WTA rankings, Osaka jumps to World No 3

Patna : Ashleigh Barty, 23, Australia, and Karolina Pliskova, 27, Czech Republic, remain World N0 2 1 and World No 2 in WTA rankings released on October 7, 2019, but Naomi Osaka, 21, Japan, has jumped one place to be ranked World No 3 after winning the China Open, a WTA premier event, title on October 6. Osaka defeated Barty in the China Open final to jump to World No3 position.

French Open Champion Barty has 7,091 points while Pliskova has 6,015 points. Australian Open Champion Osaka has now 5,621 points. Elina Svitolina, 25, Ukraine, has slipped 1 place to be ranked World No 4 with 5,525 points.

US Open Champion Bianca Andreescu, 19, Canada, jumped 1 ladder and is ranked World No 5 with 5,041 points while Wimbledon Champion Simona Halep, 28, Romania, has slipped 1 place to be ranked World No 6 with 4,962 points.

Two- time former  Wimbledon Champion Petra Kvitová, 29, Czech Republic, remans World No 7 with 4,776 points while Kiki Bertens, 27, Netherlands, remains World No 8 with 4,495 points. Serena Williams, 38, USA, is World No 9 with 3,935 points while Belinda Bencic, 22, Switzerland, is World No 10 with 3,848 points. Caroline Wozniacki, 29, Denmark, has slipped 5 places to be ranked World No 24 with 1,883 points after failing to defend her China Open title and 1,000 rankings points. She lost in the SFs this year.

Jennifer Brady, 24, USA, has jumped 10 places to be ranked World No 56 with 1,047 points after reaching Round of 16 at China Open last week.

India No 1 Ankita Raina, 26, has jumped 2 places to be ranked World No 189 with 319 points. Pranjala Yadlapalli, 20, India, has slipped 3 places and is ranked World No 340 with 149 points.
