Patna : Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 218 runs on the fifth day of the second cricket test at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, on November 15, 2018, to level the two-match test series 1-1. Bangladesh with all-rounder spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 5/38 and Taijul Islam 2/93 in Zimbabwe second innings. Zimbabwe batsman Brendan Taylor scored century in both the innings of the second test – 110 in the first innings and an unbeaten 106 in the second.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, Bangladesh had declared their first innings at 522/7 with Mominul Haq scoring 161 and wicketkeeper Mushfiquur Rahim an unbeaten 219. Kyle Jarvis took 5/71.
Zimbabwe were all out for 304 in their first innings with Taylor scoring 110, Peter moor 83, and opener Brian Chari 53. Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam took 5/107 while Mehidy Hasan took 3/61.
Bangladesh, who had taken a lead of 218 runs, declared their second innings 224/6 with captain Mahmadullah scoring an unbeaten 101 and Mohammad Mithun 67. For Zimbabwe, Kyle Jarvis took 2/27 while Donald Tiripano took 2/31. Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza took one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 443, Zimbabwe were all out for 224 in their second innings with Taylor scoring an unbeaten 106 and open Brain Chari 43. Captain Hamilton Masakadza scored 25 runs.
Mushfiqur Rahim was declared Player of the Match while Taijul Islam was declared Player of the series for taking 18 wickets in two tests.
