Patna : Bangladesh beat India by three wickets in a rain affected final at Senswes Park, Potchefstroom, South Africa, on February 9, 2020, night, to lift ICC U-19 World Cup for the first time. Bangladesh, who were set a revised target of 170 in 46 overs under DLS method following rain during their chase, scored 170/7 in 42.1 overs to win the match with opener Parvez Hossain Emon scoring 47 in 79 balls hitting 7 fours and Akbar Ali (c & wk) scoring an unbeaten 43 in 77 balls with 4 fours. Akbar Ali was declared Player of the Match.
Bangladesh were reeling at 143/6 at one stage but Emon and Akbar Ali steadied the innings and brought their team back into the match. For India, leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi took 4/30 while fast medium bowler Sushant Mishra took 2/25.
Bangladesh had won the toss but opted to bowl. Batting first, India, who were bidding for the 5th title, were all out for a modest 177 in 47.2 overs with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 88 hitting 8 fours and a six while Tilak Verma scored 38 and Dhruv Jurel (wk) 22.
