Bagaha residents stage dharna for direct train between Gorakhpur and Muzaffarpur

Bagaha: A large number of people and political party activists led by Dayashanker Singh on Sunday staged a day long dharna on Bagaha railway station premises in West Champaran district demanding restoration of direct passenger trains from Gorakhpur junction to Muzaffarpur and Patliputra (Patna) junction via Bagaha.

Three pairs of direct passenger trains from Gorakhpur junction to Muzaffarpur and Patliputra via Bagaha running earlier were stopped after implementation of new timetable from October 2, 2016, causing inconvenience to litigants, service holders, advocates, ailing persons and other commuters.

A meeting was also held at dharna venue which was addressed by Rakesh Singh, JD(U), Umesh Gupta, BJP, Brijeshwar Rao, LJP, Ramesh Ram, Congress, Chhedilal Sahani, RJD, Surendra Baitha, Saurabh Swatantra, Mansi Thakur, Manoj Singh, Chhoteylal Srivastava and others. They  said that due to cancellation of direct passenger trains, rail commuters were facing great trouble at Narakatiaganj rail station junction where they have to wait for several hours for trains. Suresh Bhalotia of BJP said that the direct passenger trains had sleeper coaches also. A memorandum addressed to the railway minister was also handed over to Bagaha railway station superintendent Jaikumar Srivastava in this connection.
