Bagaha: Thousands of purcha holders, who have been denied possession over their land for the last 23 years despite getting purcha, gathered at Ambedkar statue, Bagaha, under the aegis of Lok Sunghars Samiti, West Champaran, and staged a day long dharna there on Wednesday.
The farmers also held a public meeting at the dharna ground, which was addressed by many leaders including Arjun das , Poonam Devi, Urmila Karn, Chakarbarti Priyadashi, who said the farmers had planted paddy crops on their after getting land parcha but they could not harvest the paddy last year. Not only this, their leader and land reforms core committee member Pankaj Ji and 18 others had to surrendered before the court allegedly in a false case lodged by Bagaha-1, Circle Officer, Ramjanam Sao, against them. The purcha holders were demanding withdrawal of the case lodged against their leaders, who were in Bagaha jail since July 20,2016.The farmers handed over a memorandum to SDM, Bagaha, on Wednesday.
