Patna :Fourth seed Viktor Axelsen, 27, Denmark, and World No 42 Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus, 35, Denmark, will clash in the men’s singles finals of Toyota Thailand Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 Badminton tournament, at Bangkok, Thailand, on January 24, 2021.
Axelsen, the 2017 World Champion, beat 2nd seed Chou Tien Chen, 31, Taiwan, in straight games 21-19, 21-15 in semi-finals in 51 minutes on January 23, 2021. Axelsen won 42 rallies in the match to 34 by Chen. He won 5 consecutive points during the match to 4 by Chen. Chen had also in the semi-finals of Yonex Thailand Open on January 16, 2021. Axelsen now leads Chen 11-2 Head to Head.
Unseeded Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus stunned compatriot and 3rd seed Anders Antonsen, 23, in straight games 21-19, 21-8 in 45 minutes in semi-finals. Vittinghus won 42 rallies in the match to 27 by Antonsen. He won 8 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Antonsen. Vittinghus was all over Antonsen in the second game. It was first meeting between the two players on World Tour.
