Patna : World No 7 Kidambi Srikanth, 26, India, lost to World No 4 Viktor Axelsen, 25, Denmark, in the final of Yonex-Sunrise India Open 2019, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 level tournament, at K D Jadhav Indoor Hall, New Delhi, India, on March 31, 2019. Axelsen had won Gold Medal at 2017 World Championship at Glasgow.

Axelsen, the 2nd seed, swept aside Srikanth 21-7, 22-20 in the final in only 36 minutes to win the men’ singles title. Axelsen won 43 rallies to 27 by Srikanth. He also won 12 consecutive points in the match to only 3 by Srikanth. Axelsen, a former World No 1, now leads Srikanth 5-3 head to head. Axelsen has won 13 career titles. Srikanth has won 11 career titles and is also a former World No 1.
