Patna : Top seed & World No 5 Viktor Axelsen, 26, Denmark, beat World No 32 Kunlavut Vitidsarn, 18, Thailand, to lift the men’s singles title at Barcelona Spain Masters, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 Badminton Tournament at Barcelona, Spain, on February 23, 2020. Axelsen secured 7,000 BWF Rankings points plus cash prize while Kunlavut got 5,950 Rankings points besides cash prize.

Axelsen, the 2017 World Champion, beat three-time former Junior World Champion Kunlavut in straight games 21-16, 21-13 in 46 minutes in final to win the singles title. Axelsen won 42 rallies in the match to 29 by Kunlavut. He won 6 consecutive points in the match to 3 by the Thai player. It was first meeting between the two players. Axelsen’s World Rankings will improve with this title.
