Patna : Australia scored a competitive 294/9 in 50 overs in the 1st ODI against England at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, UK, on September 11, 2020, night, with all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell March scoring 77 runs and 73 runs respectively another all-rounder Marcus Stoinis scored 43. England fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood took two wickets each while spinner Adil Rashid took two wickets. England had won the toss and opted to bowl.

Batting first, Australia lost their first two wickets with only 43 runs on board as opener David Warner fell to Jofra Archer for 6 while his opening partner Aaron Finch (captain) fell to Mark Wood for 16. Stoinis also fell to Wood for 43 in 34 balls hitting 6 fours. Marnus Labuschagne fell to Adil Rashid for 21 in 30 balls with one four making it 103/4. Alex Carey (wk) also fell to Rashid for 10 and it was 123/5.

Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh then added 126 runs for the 6th wicket. Maxwell fell to Jofra Archer for 77 in 59 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes and it was 249/6. Pat Cummins also fell to Archer for 9 making it 259/7. Marsh fell to Mark Wood for 73 in 100 balls hitting 6 fours making it 273/8. Spinner Adam Zampa fell to fast bowler Chris Woakes for 5 and it was 288/9. Fast bowler Mitchell Starc remained unbeaten on 19 in 12 balls hitting a four and a six.

For England, Archer took 3/57 in 10 overs while Wood took 3/54 in 10 overs. Rashid took 2/55 in 10 overs while Woakes took 1/59 in 10 overs.
