Patna : Australia defeated England in the third Ashes Test at WACA Ground, Perth, Australia, by an innings and 41 runs on the fifth and final day of the match on December 18, 2017, to reclaim the Ashes. Australia now lead the five-match Ashes series 3-0 after their huge victory at Perth. Australia has completed the series so far.
England,who resumed at their overnight score of 132/4, were bowled out for 218 before tea by Australia on day five. J Vince made 55 and Dawid Malan 54. England Captain Joe Root and former Captain A Cook made 14 each.
Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood took 5/ 48 in 18 overs, his first five wicket haul in an Ashes series, while Pat Cummins took 2/53 in 19.5 overs. Mitchell Starc took 1/44 in 17 overs while spinner Nathan Lyon took 2/42 in 15 overs. England had won the last Ashes series in England in 2015. Steven Smith has won his first Ashes series as Captain of Australia.
