Patna : Australia defeated India by 4 wickets in the 4th ODI at Punjab Cricket Association I S Bindra Stadium, Mohari, riding on an explosive unbeaten 84 in 43 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes by Ashton Turner, his first ODI fifty,  and an equally brilliant 117 in 105 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes by Peter Handscomb, his maiden ODI century. Opener Usman Khawaja scored 91 while Shaun Marsh made and Glen Maxwell 23. Wicketkeeper Alex Carey made 21. India captain Virat Kohli described Ashton Turner’s innings as game changer. Turner, 26, was named Player of the Match.

Chasing a target of 359, Australia scored 359/6 in 47.5 overs to level the five-match series 2-2. Indian bastmen performed well but the bowlers including Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvaneshwar left a lot to be desired leaking away too many runs. Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and other bowlers sent several wides.

Earlier, opting to bat after winning the toss, India scored 358/9 in 50 overs with opener Shikhar Dhawan scoring 143, his 16th ODI ton, and his opening partner Rohit Sharma scoring 95. Captain Virat Kohli scored 7 while wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant scored 36 and all-rounder Vijay Shankar 26. The only positive thing for India in the match was Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan returning to form adding 192 runs for the first wicket.
