Patna : Australia defeated England by 12 runs in the ICC World Cup warm-up match at The Rose Bowl, Southampton, England, with Steve Smith scoring 116 in 102 balls hitting 8 fours and 3 sixes and opener David Warner scoring 43 in 55 balls with 5 fours. Smith fell to fast bowler Tom Curran while Warner fell to fast bowler Liam Plunkett.

Captain and opener Aaron Finch fell to fast bowler Mark Wood for 14 while Shaun Marsh fell to Liam Plunkett for 30 in 44 balls with 1 four. Usman Khawaja fell to spinner Liam Dawson for 31 in 38 balls with just 1 four. Alex Carey (wk) fell to Liam Plunkett for 30. England had won the toss and opted to bowl. Batting first, Australia made 297/9 in 50 overs.

For England, Liam Plunkett took 4/69 in 9 overs while Mark Wood took 1/19 in 3.1 over while Liam Dawson took 1/50. Tom Curran took 1/54 in 10 overs in 9 overs.

Chasing a target of 297, England were all out for 286 in 49.3 overs with James Vince scoring 64 in 76 balls hitting 6 fours while Captain and wicketkeeper Jos Buttler scored 52 in 31 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
