Patna :  Australia were 202/8 in their second innings in the second session on day 4 in the second test against India with  Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon yet to score. Resuming at their overnight score of 132/4, Australia lost the wickets of Captain & wicketkeeper Tim Paine, opener Aaron Finch, and Usman Khwaja after lunch. All three wickets were taken by Mohammad Shami, who has far taken five wickets ( 5/37) in the match. Pat Cummins fell to Jasprit Bumrah ( 2/37)  for 1. Australia lead by 245 runs.

Khwaja fell to Shami for 72 in 213 balls with 5 fours while Tim Paine fell to the same bowler for 37 in 116 balls with 4 fours. Aaron Finch, who retired hurt on December 16, 2018, while on 25, returned to the crease after Paine got out but was out on his overnight score. Khwaja and Tim Paine added 72 runs for the 5th wicket.
