Patna : Bihar Legislative Assembly was adjourned till 2 pm on March 7, 2018, amid demand by the opposition RJD for removal of Chief Secretary (CS) Anjani Kumar Singh, who has been summoned by a CBI court in Ranchi in connection with a fodder scam case.
As soon as the House assembled for the day’s business, RJD MLAs Bhola Yadav and Shakti Singh Yadav demanded immediate dismissal of Singh, who is among the seven persons directed by the CBI court, Ranchi, Jharkhand, on March 6, 2018, to appear before it in person on March 28.
CS Singh has been summoned in connection with alleged fraudulent drawal of money from the treasury in Dumka district where he was posted as deputy commissioner during the period.
As Speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary requested the RJD MLAs to take their seats, allow the Question Hour to proceed and raise the issue at an appropriate time, other legislators of the party as also those of the Congress and the CPI(ML) also rose on their feet raising slogans against the CS.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shravan Kumar made several attempts to pacify the members with the request to allow the proceedings to continue as the opposition MLAs raised slogans against CS Singh and questioned the decision of CM Nitish Kumar to grant three-month extension to him. Singh was to retire on February 28, 2018. As the din continued for nearly half an hour, the Speaker adjourned the House till 2 pm.
