Ara : Health services under all the 14 blocks in Bhojpur district remain affected as the indefinite strike by the Asha and Mamata workers under the banner of ‘Asha Sangharsh Samiti’ to press their 12-point demands continued for the tenth consecutive day on December 10, 2018.lment of their 12 point demands.

The patients are a harried lot as they have to face a lot of problems in getting medical aid at the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and other health centres in Bhojpur district. The Asha and Mamta workers locked the PHCs and took out processions at every block on December 10 raising slogans against the Bihar government. They did not allow a single patient to enter the health centre and staged day long dharana at the gate of health centres. Their main demands include remuneration up to Rs 18,000, status of a government employee, and better living condition.

Speaking on the occasion, Indu Singh, district secretary, All India Progressive Woman Association (AIPA), said that the government is spending crores of rupees on luxurious lives and salary of the MLAs, MLCs, MPs but has remained indifferent  to the problems of Asha and Mamta workers. She said Bihar is leading in health sector due to hard work of Asha and Mamata.
