Patna : Bihar government on  March 3, 2017, issued orders for suspension of 1987 batch IAS officer Sudhir Kumar who is judicial custody since February 24, 2017.  According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on March 3, a case has been instituted under different sections of  IPC and IT Act in connection
with the leakage of question papers of the examinations conducted by Bihar state staff selection commission (BSSC) of which Sudhir Kumar was Chairman.

Both Chairman Kumar and Secretary Parmeshwar Ram of BSSC have been arrested in this case besides 3o others. Incidentally, Bihar government took almost eight days to suspend Sudhir Kumar. Meanwhile, the SIT, which has been investigating the question leakage, has submitted its report to the state government.

IAS Officers’ Association, Bihar Branch, has strongly protested the arrest of Sudhir Kumar and submitted a memorandum to the governor in this connection recently. Sudhir Kumar hails from Sitamarhi district in North Bihar.
