Ara girl was being raped by own uncle for several months

Ara : Police are yet to arrest a man who was allegedly raping his teenage niece for the past several months in Bahiro locality under Nawada police station, Ara, in Bhojpur district. The matter came to light when her mother suspected the activities of her brother-in-law (devar) and inquired about it from her daughter. A named FIR was lodged with Woman Police Station, Ara, on  June 20, 2017, on the statement of the mother of the girl. Police also brought the girl to Ara Sadar Hospital for medical examination.

The woman works at Ara collectorate and lives in a house with her brother-in-law Baban Ram and her teenage daughter in Bahiro locality under Nawada police station after the death of her husband about eight months ago. Baban Ram used to sexually exploit his niece almost daily threatening her with dire consequence if she disclosed it to anyone. The girl never dared to even inform her mother about it. In the meantime, the woman suspected activities of her brother-in-law towards her daughter and questioned the girl. The girl then informed her mother that her uncle almost daily took her into a room and raped her. Her mother was shocked when she came to know about sexual exploitation of her daughter by her own uncle.

The woman immediately rushed to the Woman Police station and lodged an FIR against her brother-in-law Baban Ram. The girl said that after her father’s demise, she considered her uncle as her father but he outraged her modesty. Baban Ram is absconding.
