Ara : Additional District and Sessions Judge 11, Ara, Ashitabh Kumar, on September 26, 2019, sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment to Ashraf and his step mother Kutubun Khatoon of village Sarathua under Udwantnagar police station in Bhojpur district  in connection with murder of Sahana Khatoon, Ashraf’wife. The court also slapped a fine of Rs. 10,000 on Ashraf and Rs 5,000 on Kutubun Khatoon.

Public Prosecutor Nageshwar Dubey said that Sahana Khatoon of village Telari under Chenari police station in Rohtas district was married to Ashraf of village Sarathua village under Udwantnagar police station in Bhojpur district in 2014 and was ever  since being tortured by her in-laws for a motorcycle. When their demand was not fulfilled, they strangulated her to death on August 9, 2018. A named FIR was lodged by Udwantnagar police station against Ashraf and his mother-in-law on the statement of the deceased’s brother. Hearing both the parties, the ADJ 11, Ashitabh Kumar, awarded rigorous life imprisonment to them and also slapped fines on them.
