Ara : Additional District and Session Judge VI, Ara, Vaishnav Shankar Mehrotra, on December 22, 2020, sentenced Manish Kumar of Begumpur area under Ara town police station (PS) to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment for outraging modesty of a teenage girl last year. The court also slapped a fine of Rs. 30,000 on him.

Special PP Saroj Kumari said that Manish Kumar decoyed the teenage girl and her mother and took them to his home for meeting his parents at Begumpur on February 8, 2019, where he established physical relation with the girl. He outraged her modesty several times with a promise to marry her.

The girl had gone to market along with her niece on March 23, 2019. Manish Kumar caught her and took her to his house with malafide intention and shooed away her niece. The niece reached home and narrated the whole story to the family members. After that the family members of the girl went to Manish Kumar’s house and rescued her from his clutches. They also caught Manish Kumar and handed him over to police. A named FIR was lodged with Ara town police station against Manish Kumar.

After hearing both the party, the ADJ held Manish Kumar guilty and awarded 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment to him and also slapped a fine of Rs. 30,000 on him. The money will be given to the victim.
