Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, conducted raids at village Salthar under Udwantnagar police station on December 21, 2020, late evening, and arrested two arms smugglers from there. Police also seized a countrymade pistol and two live cartridges from their possession.

The arrested miscreants were identified as Deepak Kumar of Jagdeonagar under Nawada police station and Pappu Kumar of Santhar village under Jagdishpur police station in Bhojpur district.

Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai said that he got information that an arms deal was going on at Salthar village under Udwantnagar police station on December 21, 2020, late evening. He immediately directed the SHO, Udwantnagar police station, Jyoti Kumari, to take action. The SHO conducted raids at Salthar village and arrested two members of an inter-district gang of arms smugglers. Police also recovered a countrymade pistol and two live cartridges from their possession.

The SP said that Pappu Kumar was selling arms to Deepak Kumar when police arrested them. A named FIR was lodged by Udwantnagar police station against them and police sent them to jail after interrogation. The SP further said that both the arms dealers are linked with an inter-district gang, the members of which were arrested with cache of arms last week from Narayanpur police station area in Bhojpur District. Police are trying to know details about the gang and their background.

It may be mentioned here that police had busted a gang of inter-district arms smugglers with the arrest of one of its members and recovery of 17 firearms and 34 magazines on December 13, 2020, from Kheda Bazaar under Narayanpur police station though the mastermind of the gang had managed to escape.
