Ara : Additional District and Sessions Judge- I, Ara, R K Singh on August 17, 2019, sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment Om Prakash Gupta of village Zamira under Ara Muffassil police station in Bhojpur district for outraging modesty of a Buxar girl in 2015. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 85,000 on the convict. He is at present living in Prakashpuri locality under Ara Town police station at a rented house.

APP Saroj Kumari said that a teenage girl from Buxar along with her family members lived at a house in Prakashpuri locality  since 2015. She called the accused ‘bhaiya’.  Her parents went to Badodara in Gujarat in 2015 to attend a marriage ceremony leaving the girl all alone at the house. Finding the girl alone at her house, her neighbour Om Prakash Gupta outraged her modesty and also made some videos. He demanded Rs 30,000 from her for deleting the video and also threatened to make the video viral on social media if she did not give him the amount.

When her parents returned, she narrated the incident them. Her parents immediately lodged a named FIR with Women’ police station, Ara .

After hearing both the parties, the ADJ I found the named accused Om Prakash Gupta guilty of outraging modesty of the teenage girl and awarded rigorous life imprisonment to him besides slapping a fine of Rs 85,000 on him.
