Ara court sentences man to rigorous life imprisonment for killing wife

Ara : Additional District and Sessions Judge IV, Ara, R K Singh on July 4, 2018, sentenced to rigorous life (RI) imprisonment one Laxman Singh in connection with murder of his wife Pushpa Singh.

APP Dadan Prasad said that Ram Pravesh Singh of village Arhiyadiha under Piro police station in Bhojpur district married off his  daughter Pushpa Singh to Laxman Singh of Baburahi Tola under Agiawa Bazaar police station on May 15, 2011, but her in-laws always tortured her for a motorcycle and a gold chain and when their demands were not fulfilled, they poisoned her to death on April 2, 2012. A named FIR was lodged with Agiaw Bazaar police station against Laxman Singh and others on the statement of Ram Pravesh Singh. After hearing both the parties, the ADJ awarded Laxman Singh rigorous life imprisonment.

Ten years’ RI to two : In another judgment, Additional District and Session Judge II, Ara, Harshit Singh awarded 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment to Krishna Kumar and Md Riyaz each and also slapped a fine of Rs one lakh on each of them on July 4, 2018, for dealing in Heroin. The court acquitted Zaved for want of sufficient evidence and ordered for his release.

APP Rana Pratap Singh said that Bhojpur police had arrested Krishna Kumar alias Amrendra Kumar of Shivganj under Ara Town police station along with 500 gram Heroin outside Ara railway station on May 27, 2016, and on his revelation arrested Md Riyaz with 979 gram Heroin and his son Javed from Chaudhariyana under Ara Town police station. Krishna Kumar worked for Md Riyaz.
