Ara Court sentences man to rigorous life imprisonment for killing step-daughter

Ara : Additional District and Sessions Judge-1, Ara, R K Singh, on February 1, 2020, sentenced a man to rigorous life imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on him for killing his step-daughter.

Special Public Prosecutor Saroj Kumari said that mother of the deceased had three sons and a daughter from her first husband. After the death of her first husband, she married Suraj Paswan of village Pawana under the same police station who allegedly always molested her teenage daughter. Fed up with it, the girl started living at separate house at the village.

On July 12, 2018, Suraj Paswan along with his wife and other children were sleeping at his house. Around midnight, when his wife awoke, she found her husband nowhere. She smelt rat and went to the house where her daughter lived. She found that her husband was escaping after jumping off the wall of the house. When she went inside, she found her daughter lying dead on the bed. A named FIR was lodged with Pawana police station against Suraj Paswan on the statement of the deceased’s mother.

After hearing both the sides, the ADJ-I awarded rigorous life imprisonment to Suraj Pawan and also slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on him.
