Sasaram : Some miscreants burnt a youth alive at village Torani under Kargahar police station in Rohtas district on January 31, 2020, night, and then threw the body into a pond near a Kali temple at the village. Police fished out the body from the pond and brought it over to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Old enmity is said to be the cause behind the incident. The deceased was identified as Arun Rai alias Nanhe Rai, 38, son of Gopal Rai of village Torani.

SHO, Kargahar police station, Sushant Mandal said that Arun Rai was missing from his house since January 23, 2020, and all efforts of his family members to locate him proved futile. Finally, police recovered the body from a pond. The SHO said that the miscreants poisoned Arun Rai first and later burnt him inside the Kali temple and threw the body into the pond. Police recovered his burnt clothes from inside the temple and his shoes from outside the temple.

Om Prakash Rai, elder brother of the deceased, said that Arun Rai had gone to his room at the village on January 22, 2020, to sleep but his room was found locked in the morning on January 23, 2020. Some of his burnt clothes were found from outside his room. He further said that no one could get any clue as to where the miscreants had kept Arun Rai. He stated that his family had old enmity with a person of the village and the case is pending in the court from both the sides. He said that Arun Rai was married in 2004 and has a son and a daughter.
