Ara : Additional District and Sessions Judge IV, Ara, Ramesh Chandra Dwiwedi on August 1, 2017, sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment to four persons: Vinayak Pathak, Suresh Paswan, Shauqat Ansari and Satyanarayan Paswan, and also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 on each of them for killing a priest and stealing of ashtdhatu idols of Lord Ram and Goddess Janki from Ram Janaki temple, Pitaro, in Bhojpur district in 2013. The court also ordered for re-installation of the recovered idols of RamĀ  and Janki with the amount realized from the accused.

Some miscreants had killed priest Shiv Narayan Das alias Shiv Bachan Mahto of Ram Janaki temple at Pitaro under Agiaw police station on May 20, 2013, and also stole the ashtadhatu idols of Lord Ram and Goddess Janaki. Police arrested all the four persons and on their revelation recovered the idols from a barn at Jamunipur village under Agiaw police station.
