Anderson, Wawrinka, Agut & Lopez reach Wimbledon 2nd round

Patna : World No 8 Kevin Anderson, 32, South Africa, World No 19 Stan Wawrinka, 34, Switzerland, World No 22 Roberto Bautista Agut, 31, Spain,  and World No 54 Feliciano Lopez, 37, Spain, entered the second round of Wimbledon Championships on July 1, 2019, at All England Law Tennis & Croquet Club, London, UK.

Fourth seed Anderson beat World No 39 Pierre- Hugues Herbert, 28, France, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 to reach the second round. Anderson, the 2018 Wimbledon finalist, fired 16 Aces in the match to 4 by Herbert. Anderson also won 4 break points besides winning 3 games in a row. Anderson had also reached US Open final in 2017.

Wawrinka beat World No 171 Ruben Bemelmans, 31, Belgium, in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to enter the second round. Wawrinka fired 7 Aces in the match to just1 by Bemelmans. Wawrinka won 5 break points besides winning 5 games in a row in the match. Wawrinka won 56 service points to 45 by Bemelmans.

Agut beat World No 121 Peter Gojowczyk, 29, Germany, in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the 2nd round. Agut won 6 break points in the match to just 1 by Gojowczyk. Agut won 5 games in a row to 2 by Gojowczyk. But, Gojowczyk fired 10 Aces in the match to 5 by Agut. The Spaniard won 54 service points to 44 by Gojowczyk.

Lopez beat qualifier Marcos Giron, USA, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the 2nd round. Lopez fired 16 Aces in the match to just 3 by Giron. Lopez also won 4 break points besides winning 7 games in a row in the match.
