Ara : Municipal Commissioner, Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC), Pramod Kumar, on the direction of Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar, on October 9, 2017, cancelled a vehicle parking contract of Rs 1.12 crore awarded to contractor Dinesh Prasad. The Municipal Commissioner has also ordered for realisation of the excess amount illegally collected by contractor Dinesh Prasad from vehicles on the National Highways in the name of parking.

Municipal Commissioner, Pramod Kumar, said that the image of the AMC has been tarnished as complaints had been received regarding illegal realisation of money from vehicles on National Highway and added that at least six FIRs had been lodged with Nawada police station, Ara, so far this year but illegal realization of money from vehicles did not stop. He said the present contract has been cancelled and the AMC has decided not to award any contract to anyone in future.

Pramod Kumar said that a parking contract of Rs. 1.12 crore on the NH near Patel Bus Stand for parking of tractors, Pick-Up, truck and commercial vehicles had been awarded to Dinesh Prasad of Sri Tola locality under Nawada police station, Ara. He had to realize a fixed amount from the vehicles parked on a piece of land earmarked for the purposes by the AMC but he started realizing Rs 500 excess from all the commercial vehicles passing from the area that created a lot of law and order problems.  Even the former Mayor,  Sunil Kumar, AMC had lodged an FIR with Nawada police station in connection with realization of illegal amount from vehicles, he added.
