Patna : Governor cum Chancellor Satya Pal Malik while addressing the fourth convocation of Aryabhatta Knowledge University (AKU), Patna, on November 29, 2017, said that the Centre for River Studies, Patliputra Centre for Economics, Centre for Journalism and Mass Communication, Centre for Stem Cell Technology, Centre for Astronomy & Astrophysics and Centre for Non Conventional Energy will be set up at the university shortly. The convocation was organised at Samrat Ashok Convention Centre, Patna.

The Governor said that the AKU was imparting teaching in almost all the subjects related to knowledge and science. He appreciated the performance of the girls at AKU exams saying they often occupy 90% of the position in the top ten. He promised his full support to the AKU in its endeavour. He said that Britan had curtailed its budget under different heads during World War II but never cut its education budget. Lack of education can hardly be compensated, Governor Malik said.

The Governor appreciated the university for organising blood donation camps, creating awareness about prohibition and arranging donation to the CM Relief Fund during flood. He appealed the youth to work for eradication of dowry system in the state. The Governor distributed degrees among the successful students on the occasion.

Education Minister Krishnandan Prasad Verma and Health Minister Mangal Pandey also addressed the convocation. AKU VC Dr Arun Kumar Agarwal presented progress report of the university.
