Patna : Afghanistan crushed New Zealand (NZ) by a massive 202 run margin at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, New Zealand, in the quarterfinals to enter the semi-finals of ICC Under-19 World Cup tournament on January 25, 2018, creating history in the process.

Afghanistan, batting first after winning the toss, scored 309/6 in 50 overs with Rahmanullah Gurbaz (69), Ibrahim Zadran (68), Bahir Shah ( 67 not out), and Asmatullah  Omarzai slamming half-centuries. In fact, Omarzai hit 66 in just 24 balls pulvurising New Zealand. Afghanistan then bundled out New Zealand for just 107 in 28.1 overs with K D Clarke scoring 38 and D N Phillips making 31. For Afghanistan, Qais Ahmad and Mujeeb Zadran took four wickets each. Afghanistan Captain Naveen- Ul-Haq also took awicket. Omarzai was declared Player of the Match.

Afghanistan will now play Australia in the semi-finals. Pakistan has already entered the semi-finals. India play Bangladesh in the quarterfinals.
