Buxar :  The advocates abstained themselves from work at Buxar Civil Court on August 22, 2019, in protest against murder of Chitranjan Singh, an advocate and Sarpanch, Jagdishpur panchayat, at the gate of the Civil Court, on August 21, 2019. They observed two minutes silence and paid homage to the departed soul. As a result no judicial work could be done on August 22. Police remain clueless about the identity and whereabouts of the accused.

Some unidentified armed miscreants shot dead  Chitranjan Singh, son of late Ramashish Singh of village Jagdishpur under Buxar Muffassil police station, at the gate of Buxar Civil Court, on August 21 evening when he was returning home from the court. Police brought the body over to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post- mortem.

An FIR has been lodged with Buxar Town police station in connection with the incident and police are conducting raids to arrest the miscreants. Old enmity is said to be the cause behind the incident. Police recovered two blank and one life cartridges of 7.65 calibre from the place of occurrence. 

SHO, Buxar Town police station, said that some unidentified armed miscreants shot at Chitranjan Singh, advocate , Buxar Civil Court, when he came out of the court campus on August 21 evening after completing his work. He tried to escape towards the court campus but the miscreants chased and shot him dead and proceeded towards Buxar Collectorate where their aides were waiting for them.

Chitranjan Singh allegedly had some dispute with Khunti Yadav of his panchayt over 6 bighas of land in which Khunti Yadav, former sarpanch, Jagdishpur panchayat cum general secretary, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), was killed on May 18, 2018, near Itadhi railway crossing under Itadhi police station in Buxar district.

A named FIR was lodged with the police against six persons including Chitranjan Singh, Kanchan Kumar Singh, Saroj Singh, Ajay Singh, Jagmohan Singh, and Ram Ishwar Singh on the statement of an eyewitness and son of Khunti Yadav. The police had arrested Chitranjan Singh and sent him to jail in connection with murder of  Khunti Yadav. He had come out of the jail recently on bail.
