Ara : Hundreds of Aasha workers took out a procession that passed through the main thoroughfares of Ara town on January 29, 2018, and culminated at Ara block office where they staged gherao of Block Development Officer (BDO), Ara. They resorted to agitation to press their 23 point charter of demands. They raised slogans against the government and the officials of Bhojpur district administration.

Shakuntal Devi, an Asha worker, said that the National Health Mission Steering Committee, at its meeting on December 6, 2013, had resolved that Rs 1,000 would be given to the Aasha workers as stipend per month on the work done. She  said that the scheme was implemented in a number states in the country but in Bihar, the state government has remained indifferent. She said that they would be forced to launch an aggressive agitation if their demands were not fulfilled at the earliest.
