Patna: The workers of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by its Bihar incharge Sanjiv Jha, MLA, staged demonstration at Patna to protest slashing of post-matriculation scholarship for dalit students in the state. They were raising anti-government slogans to press their demand for restoration of the scholarship amount, action against police officials responsible for lathicharge on dalit students on August 3, 2016, and withdrawal of cases lodged against them. The AAP worker from different districts started collecting near the Bailey Road gate of Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park from 11 am and started raising slogans against the government.

Addressing the party workers on the occasion, Jha said the education system is in mess in Bihar. He said the Grand Alliance government does not want dalit students to progress and do well in life hence had curtailed their scholarship.  Jha said that atrocities on dalits had increased in the state ever since Grand Alliance government came to power in November 2015.

When the AAP workrs under the leadership of Jha started moving towards the residence of the chief minister, police stopped them. Jha and several APP workers courted arrested but were soon released. Later, a five member AAP delegation submitted a memorandum to CM Secretariat. The delegation was told that it would get the government reply within five days.
